Amsterdam

Ben went to Amsterdam last week.
So his Trip was an interesting story. I will tell it from my side of what happened. Saturday Ben left around 11 am, so I went to John and Nancy’s house and helped can grape juice. Later that night Ben calls and said he had an emergency landing in Nova Scotia, Canada. His plane was turned around because it was smoking (on fire). The plane was evacuated off to the side of the run way, surrounded by emergency vehicles and fire trucks. He said he would call back when he was off the plane. He called me the next morning at 6 am letting me know he was leaving on another plane to Amsterdam. (No call from Ben, kept me up all night.) He had stayed up all night in a holding room with all the other passengers waiting for another plane. Over eight hours later he called me letting me know that he had landed in Amsterdam.

On Wednesday night Ben went on a Canal Tour, showing highlights of the city. Something he learned is that the houses were taxed by how wide they are. So they made the houses really skin and tall. The smallest house 1.5 meters which is 5 feet wide. Ben was telling me that everyone bikes there, there are 600,000 bicycles. Note there are only 750,000 people that live in that area. He also told me about all the restaurants, they have 2800 restaurants mostly mom and pop shops.

Ben really wanted to see a windmill before he left, Friday Morning he went to see a windmill and almost missed his flight because it was so far away. The tour of the windmill did not open till 10:30, he had to be at the airport at 10:30. He was not very happy about that. Ben said it was raining most the time, making lots of rainbows.
